چکیده

Background and purpose Root cord irritation from cervical spinal degenerative disease (SDD) may share clinical features with progressive multiple sclerosis (MS), so diagnostic overshadowing occur. We hypothesized that stenotic SDD is commoner in people MS, compared to controls. Methods A retrospective case–control study of 111 cases (56 MS 55 age- sex-matched controls) was conducted. Five types (disc degeneration, posterior disc protrusion, endplate changes, canal stenosis foraminal stenosis) were assessed objectively on magnetic resonance imaging using published scales. Multivariable regression analysis performed. Results Moderate-to-severe degeneration occurred more frequently In multivariable regression, three times likely (odds ratio 3.20, 95% confidence interval 1.27, 8.09; p = 0.014), severe (p 0.009). This finding confirmed evaluation radiology reports the same population. Foraminal twice as relapsing-remitting MS. Conclusions People are susceptible stenosis. higher index suspicion for required when appropriate neurological symptoms occur setting guide treatment or monitoring.

Osteoporosis and the Management of Spinal Degenerative Disease (II)

Osteoporosis has become a major medical problem as the aged population of the world rapidly grows. Osteoporosis predisposes patients to fracture, progressive spinal deformities, and stenosis, and is subject to be a major concern before performing spine surgery, especially with bone fusions and instrumentation. Osteoporosis has often been considered a contraindication for spinal surgery, while i...

P9: Cervical Spinal Cord Extraction in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Measuring Cross-Sectional Area

Multiple sclerosis (MS) refers to the lesions that accumulate in the brain and spinal cord. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the most sensitive and versatile modality used to show changes in the tissues over time. There has been significant interest in evaluating the relationship between the brain atrophy and disease progression rather than the spinal cord atrophy. The cervical spinal cord h...

Degenerative spinal disease in large felids.

Degenerative spinal disorders, including intervertebral disc disease and spondylosis, seldom occur in domestic cats. In contrast, a retrospective study of 13 lions (Panthera leo), 16 tigers (Panthera tigris), 4 leopards (Panthera pardis), 1 snow leopard (Panthera uncia), and 3 jaguars (Panthera onca) from the Knoxville Zoo that died or were euthanatized from 1976 to 1996 indicated that degenera...
